Neighbor to Neighbor, I appreciate your support and I hear your voice as many neighbors in our community have written positive messages in our community news to say, have a nice day.

1. I am writing in support of my good friend and fellow church member, Kent Stasey. I myself have been a member of this community for over 50 years. I have lived on Old Annetta Road the entire time with my recently deceased and beloved wife, Betsy. Betsy and I have always been active members of the Annetta and Aledo communities. Many remember the big dances we would host in out barn on Saturday nights for the young people in this area. We ourselves never had children of our own, but we have always considered the community kids and the kids of Aledo United Methodist Church to be our own. I have never written a letter to the editor before this; however, my concern for the future of Annetta has left me to finally voice my opinion. Won’t you please join me in voting for Kent Stasey for Annetta City Council Place 5. I have known Kent and his family and I have served on the Board of Trustees of AUMC under the leadership of Kent as Chairman. Kent does not have higher political aspirations. Kent has stepped forward now because he wants to ensure that Annetta maintains its small town values while providing a safe and friendly community for its residents and their children. - Charlie McLain Annetta

2. FAMILY MAN, COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER: I’ve been watching the City Council race going on in Annetta and have been interested in the race for City Council Place 5. Kent Stasey, a family man and community volunteer, has stepped up to lend his experience to the town, running against a guy who lists as his main qualifications for the job his “experience in the political realm in Parker County and at the State level.” (The Community News, April 26, 2013) I don’t think Annetta needs a politician - Annetta needs a guy with “on the ground, practical experience” and Kent Stasey is that guy. He’s worked in the utility business for more than 20 years, he’s a customer of the Deer Creek water system, he’s closely involved in his children’s activities at Aledo ISD and has held leadership positions in his church there. He is a good family man who is focused on Annetta – not on the next political job or appointment coming down the line. I hope others are watching this race as closely as I am and will join me in voting for a community member who wants to serve the people - not win an election.  Vote for Kent Stasey, Annetta City Council, Place 5. - BJ Smyers Annetta

3. An open letter to the residents of Annetta Some members on the current town council have clearly stated they do not want growth in Annetta. Indeed, the town’s mission statement says “The Town of Annetta seeks to create and maintain a small, vibrant community, with a high standard of living where open spaces and scenic views are valued and conserved”. Residents of Deer Creek respect this dedication to a way of life. We are not seeking to interfere with this elite community’s lifestyle. We value your scenic views and open spaces as much as you do. We drive the same roads. The town of Annetta owns and oversees the operation of the water and sewer system residents in Deer Creek depend on to sustain our homes and families. Most Deer Creek homeowners are not in the town limits or ETJ of Annetta. Therefore, we are not allowed to vote on any decisions made by the town concerning water system improvements, maintenance or compliances. At the current time, all setting council members have private wells. Deer Creek residents feel our voice and ideas about the water system would be an asset to Annetta as we are the primary users. A petition with 500 signatures of Deer Creek residents was presented to the Annetta council, twice, requesting a public hearing, for discussion about annexation. All Democratic and legal procedures were followed. The council refused and denied the request, twice, without explanation. These circumstances have encouraged me to write this appeal to the residents of Annetta. Please be aware of what is happening in your community, how your council is representing you, and what personal agendas the people in office may have. Is the council voicing your opinions, or their own? Please be active in your city council. Please vote for open-minded, progressive candidates in the next election that uphold and respect American Democracy. We do not wish to degrade your beautiful community, we only wish a voice to protect all our property values and sustain our families’ well being. We feel this will continue the beauty of Annetta and contribute much needed revenue to the town. Annetta residents, please be proactive, not inactive and with your privilege to vote: Vote for Bruce Pinckard, Chuck Sheridan, George Ripley and Kent Stasey May 11. 4. I have to say that Kent Stasey is THE person to vote for in the upcoming election for Annetta City Council (place 5). Kent will represent the needs of the people in Annetta and the community as well. He is a great family man who believes in getting the job done right the first time. Whenever my family has a question about something – Kent is the person we contact. Even if it is a simple as “Who should we get to paint our house?” I am not a voter for Annetta (wish I was – I am in the nonannexed portion), but would highly recommend those that are to vote – Kent Stasey. My hopes will be that with a leader like Kent Stasey, we will see changes in our water system, road improvements, and a voice that is professional. I have always said that I don’t get into politics, but I will for Kent Stasey. I know that he will be a person of integrity and sound reason on the Annetta City Council. 5. We have had the privilege of knowing Kent Stasey since shortly after we moved to this community in 2006. Kent has always been a person of high integrity, both personally and professionally. He is a genuinely kind person who strives to do the right thing, even when that is a difficult undertaking. Kent is an experienced businessman who brings to the table an excellent working knowledge of the needs of utility customers, which is currently a significant opportunity for improvement within the city of Annetta with regards to water systems. Kent and his wife, Mary Beth, are dedicated Christians who actively seek opportunities to improve this community through their church, their children’s activities, their neighborhood, and now through the place #5 position on the Annetta City Council. They are excellent role models within our community, volunteering countless hours at church activities and community improvement projects, as well as looking after neighbors who may need assistance. Our home is currently outside the town of Annetta, but this election is important to our family, as we are customers of the water system owned by Annetta. We also are impacted with regard to the potential annexation of the Annetta ETJ water customers into the City of Annetta. We support Kent’s position on the improvements in the water system as well as his pro-annexation position for numerous reasons, not the least of which would be the road improvements for everyone on the way to Stuard Elementary, where our children attend. We encourage you to get to know Kent and Mary Beth Stasey, if you don’t already. We are excited to see Kent stepping up to run for this position not for his own importance, but for improvements in our community. You will find that Kent has a genuine desire to listen to the concerns of residents, to implement positive changes on the city council, and to unify our community by working effectively with others, all while preserving the integrity of our community for generations to come. -J. 6. We have known Kent Stasey, my next door neighbor, for eleven years. We know how he has worked throughout our community in support of his children in school events, programs and projects, as well as within his church. We certainly have witnessed what kind of man he is and are extremely pleased to learn that he has made the decision to run for councilman in service of our community. Kent and his wife are good Christian people whose integrity and compassion was made evident to us during a tragic time in our lives. Living next door to Kent has allowed us the opportunity to become well-acquainted with a man that is guided by the Lord in every important decision he makes. Repeatedly, he has shown himself to be a man of faith, character and integrity. The City of Annetta will be well-served and our residents can have complete trust in his service as Councilman. Kent’s home falls inside the boundaries of the City of Annetta. He is also on our water system, giving him a vested interest in the outcome of this election. Kent has been an interested participant in our local water system since it was originally sold. Kent has also expressed his support in annexing the Annetta ETJ water customers into the City of Annetta, as well as to preserve property values and maintain safe roadways. This is the type of councilman that Annetta deserves. In short, we deserve a man who has been involved, who knows the issues and who cares about both its residents and its customers. My wife and I encourage everyone to get to know Kent and Mary Beth. They are down to earth and wonderful people. You will find them to be truthful, family-oriented, Christian, dedicated individuals who have been involved in this community for years. Their children have and continue to be educated here in Aledo schools and they are involved in a local church. In the best interests of our community, we strongly encourage residents of the City of Annetta to vote for Kent Stasey as Councilman Place # 5
